Miqat finder: when to enter ihram on your flight

Choose your departure and arrival airports. We trace the flight path and show which miqat you pass and roughly how long before landing — so you are in ihram in good time.

Put on your ihram clothes before boarding (or at a stopover airport), and make your intention (niyyah) for Umrah at least 15–20 minutes before the time above — or as soon as the crew announces the miqat, whichever comes first. Entering ihram early is valid; passing the miqat without it is not.

Approximate minutes from crossing the miqat boundary to touchdown in Jeddah (JED). Make your intention earlier than this.

Questions pilgrims ask

Is Jeddah a miqat?

For pilgrims flying in from abroad, the common teaching is that Jeddah lies inside the miqat boundary, so you must be in ihram before landing there. People who live in Jeddah enter ihram from their home.

Can I put on ihram at home or at the airport?

Yes. You may wear the ihram clothes before you leave and make the intention when you approach the miqat. Avoid the restrictions of ihram (perfume, cutting hair or nails) only after the intention.

What if I pass the miqat without ihram?

Scholars say you should go back to a miqat if you can; otherwise you enter ihram where you are and an expiation (dam) is due. Ask a scholar about your case.

I’m going to Madinah first — when do I enter ihram?

At Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), on the way from Madinah to Makkah. Many pilgrims make their intention there or at their Madinah hotel just before leaving.
